The goal of the City government, which includes 1 Mayor, 6 Commissioners & a
City Manager, is to ensure economic stability while maintaining low property
taxes. Largo is reestablishing the downtown area. The plans are designed
to make it a destination, rather than simply a thoroughfare and will open
many doors of opportunity for new business, provide convenient shopping
and ample parking and create a scenic and safer roadway. Included with
the Redevelopment plan are business assistance programs designed to provide
financial aid to establishments located in Largo's downtown area. |
The City has many parks, an extraordinary library, a well qualified
and equipped Police Department, an ever expanding recreational department,
the Largo Cultural Center, which opened in 1996, and can boast of their
Firefighters being rated second-best in world competition. |
| Largo is near some of the most beautiful beaches in the world,
The Tampa International Airport, and many bustling malls. |
